Case Study 74 – Canine impaction in the roof of the mouth

Treatment was with braces in the Damon System customized with Insignia.  Her treatment was to address a permanent tooth (upper right canine) that was impacted her her palate. Total treatment time was about 31 months with braces and elastics but was without removal of any teeth other than the baby canine on her upper right side and was without a palatal expander.  She had the upper right permanent canine “exposured” (uncovered).  She also had the baby canine removed/extracted.  The removal of the baby tooth and uncovering of the permanent canine occurred about a 6 months after braces were placed.  The pictures demonstrate the progress of the upper right canine to its intended location next to the other upper teeth.
