Case Study 40 – Development

This patient was told that she needed a palatal expander for phase I treatment due to concerns regarding lack of space for the remaining permanent teeth. She came to see us for a second opinion. We did not recommend phase I treatment for her and indicated that there should be enough space for her remaining permanent teeth to erupt. Note that no treatment was performed from the first pictures to the second. She had a single phase of orthodontic treatment starting at the second pictures and concluding with the third. Treatment was with braces in the Damon System customized with Insignia. Her treatment was to address crowding and misalignment of her teeth. Total treatment time was about 11 months done in one phase with braces and elastics but was without removal of any teeth and was without a palatal expander.
