Case Study 55 – Development

This patient waited to have orthodontic treatment until after all permanent teeth had erupted. In the first picture, she still had two mandibular primary molars. It is normal and natural that the mandibular primary second molars will tend to be larger than the adult teeth that will replace them. Waiting for natural development can often allow for a reduction in crowding simply for having waited for the loss of the primary teeth. Once her remaining permanent teeth had erupted, she proceeded with orthodontic treatment with braces.
